Sega announced<\/a> on Thursday that it\u2019s canceling multiplayer shooter Hyenas<\/em><\/a>. Citing \u201clower profitability of the European region,\u201d the company said it would also shutter other unannounced titles under development.<\/p>\n According to Sega, it will \u201cimplement reduction of various fixed expenses\u201d at Hyenas<\/em> developer Creative Assembly. Unfortunately, that sounds like corporate jargon for \u201clayoffs\u201d at the studio, also known for Total War<\/em><\/a> and Alien: Isolation<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Sega also braced investors for a loss in the current fiscal year. \u201cAs a result of implementation of the structural reform described above in Consumer area, we expect to record losses of approximately 14.3 billion yen for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024,\u201d Sega wrote. In a statement to Engadget, Creative Assembly confirmed the beginning of layoff discussions. \u201cCreative Assembly, part of Sega Europe, has announced the beginning of a redundancy consultation process, alongside ending development of Hyenas<\/em>,\u201d the developer wrote. \u201cThis decision affects areas of its UK operations, which may result in job losses.\u201d<\/p>\n
